Sometimes I look at guys like Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos and wonder how on earth these guys got to the point they are at?

When I think of that, I think of this picture of Jeff from the late 90’s…

I ask myself, “Did this guy know what his business would look like 20 years later?  Did he realize he’d be flying in outer space too?”  Crazy.

My sense is that at some point along the way (and maybe even before this picture was taken) he had to decide to play BIGGER.

I remember sitting in local business networking breakfasts and feeling excited about being around other businesses in my community.  I loved seeing what they were up to and figuring out how I could help them.

The truth was I learned a ton from other local businesses I met through groups like this.

But at some point, the lessons slowed down.  AND, I could only handle listening to the other business owners blaming their business frustrations on “the economy”, “Obama”, “Trump” or some other external condition.

YES, I get the impact of that external force on our businesses but far less than most give them credit for.

My point is, that it wasn’t until I put myself into rooms of business owners that were thriving in these conditions that I saw the world for what it is: abundant.
