There’s a lot of WordPress developers and Digital Marketers out there that are doomed from the start…

They waste their client’s money, under charge and make it hard for the rest of us.

Here’s a perfect example…

A few months ago, I had a prospective client call my office.

She was pissed off because the amateur she hired didn’t deliver. Her business wasn’t growing and the “pro” she hired kept making excuses and asking for more money.

Unfortunately, I get this call more often than you’d believe.

This time it was a woman named Sandra…

A professional who knew her industry well, but had no clue about websites or digital marketing.

She was sending out an SOS. She needed my help.

The day she walked into my office, she clearly looked depressed and defeated…

“Launching a new website and an online campaign shouldn’t have to be this hard,” she said.

And, after hearing about her business, I agreed.  

She had an incredible service that plenty of people needed.

Simply put – her service was in demand.  

But, she had just one problem…

It didn’t matter how good of a website she had….

It didn’t matter how big of a paid ads budget she was willing to spend…

And, it didn’t matter how awesome her marketing team was…

Because none of that was going to change the fact that her online reputation was horrible.

It was bad.

Now, understand that Sandra actually provided great service and had a great reputation, but the online sites like Google, FB and Yelp didn’t reflect it.  

Especially when you compared her to her competitors.  

They all looked like the “obvious” choice.

Sandra was guilty of allowing marketers to convince her to spend money on strategies that drove awareness for her business, but she never got the results.

The awareness that she got from her online efforts only highlighted her bad reputation and caused those leads to go to her competitor instead.

Did you catch that?!

Her money and advertising got her competitors lead instead!

When I pointed that out to her, calling her mad would be an understatement.

“What?! What?! I cannot believe this.”, she screamed as her skin turned from a pale white to a bright red.

I don’t blame her for feeling that way. She had been duped.

The other companies she hired could have been very talented…

…but they made a huge mistake by not fixing the one thing that was preventing all of their strategies from actually working.

As I saw her skin return to its normal color, I asked her to give me 30 days.

She agreed.

During that time we focused only on improving her online reviews.

Today, we not only help her with online reviews, but we’ve also built her a website, run paid ads and other online marketing strategies too.

What’s interesting about working with these types of clients is they are easy to spot.

Next time you see a client spending money on ads (online or offline), just have a look at their online reviews.

If they have a low rating or very few, old, or infrequent reviews, they are an excellent candidate to approach to help them with reviews.

Since I discovered this, I’ve signed on over 200 local clients to help them with their reviews!

It has been an amazing foot in the door.

I’ve got our clients incredible results, and it has been one of the easiest and most successful aspects of my business.

It’s my hope that this story is something that inspires you as well…
