The Importance of Asking the Right Questions


If you walked into a new barbershop, sat in the chair, and just let them just start chopping away your head WITHOUT answering any questions about what you wanted…

… how likely would you get the exact haircut you wanted?

There’s a chance that this new barber would get it right, but I’m willing to bet there’s a bigger chance they would miss the mark.  Right?

The same is true with new clients and prospects in our agencies.

Here is a principle to write down:

The better you are at asking questions, the better your clients will be.

Here’s why…

I believe clients become difficult because you got hired even though there was still some confusion or a misalignment around what the client wanted vs what you delivered.

It’s easy for us to blame this confusion on the client.

But, the truth is, it’s your job to ask better questions, get a better understanding, and set clear expectations.

That’s why I say, “If you want better clients, ask better questions.”
