Over the years, I’ve kept a list of things I believe about being an agency owner. This list isn’t done growing nor am I done growing as an agency owner.
I share this list with you in case you wish to adopt any of these ways of thinking into your life and business.
Onward and upward!!
- I deserve to be paid based on the value I provide not the time it takes
- No snowflake projects
- I don’t proposal grenade my clients
- I don’t drop price bombs on my clients. Everything I offer my clients is an investment.
- When we teach, we win. (thanks Steve!)
- There is no such thing as a small agency. Only a large agency in a small company’s body.
- Complexity is the enemy of scale
- I take imperfect action.
- Ready = knowledge + experience. Knowledge alone will never be enough to be confident.
- When you own your agency, you own your life.
- Focus… because multitasking is a myth.
- All roads lead to playbook/proposals
- My agency changes lives
- I surround myself and my team with inspiring people
- I do the uncomfortable
- I take care of my human (me!)
- I don't climb corporate ladders, I build them.
- I eat shiny objects for lunch
- I love our competitors. I see more value in collaboration than conflict.
- The agency that understands how to warm up cold leads will have as many hot buyers as they could ever want.
- I build our agency to leverage of our time and resources
- I believe agency owners are among the most resourceful people on the planet
- Just because we know how to do it doesn't mean we're the ones that should be the ones doing it
- I value my time so that others value my time
- Time is the most valuable resource because you can't make more of it, you can only buy your time back by delegating what doesn't belong to you
- My attention is like water. Focused it can cut steel. Unfocused it sits idle.
Which one of these resonates the most with you? What would you add to my list?
