It’s often the simple things, done consistently that get results.
In my agency when I’ve tried to get complex or custom with the project I take on I’ve found it has slowed me down. But when I’ve simplified and focused on doing small things consistently, that’s where I’ve found the best results and also what has made me the most money.
When it comes to delivering digital marketing services, it can be so easy to get distracted by complex strategies when you haven’t even tried the basics with a client.
For example…
… having a decent website
… taking care of your online reviews
… ranking for your core keywords or brand name
… using simple paid ads to target (and retarget) your audience
We see this in other industries too…
For example, Brush your teeth. Floss.
Do this consistently and you can reasonably expect not to have major dental problems in between visits to your dentist. At least that’s what my dentist told me.
The same is true for losing weight, starting a hobby, or learning a language. It’s not always about hulking out and going fast, it's about showing up consistently every day and making small steps towards the goal.
As they say, “How do you climb a mountain? One step at a time.”
But, I’ve found businesses, and the digital marketing agencies they hire, tend not to follow the same advice.
The key to my agency’s ability to scale and unlock more revenue in the business has been about two things.
1. Keeping my offerings simple
2. Avoiding complex or snowflake projects
3. Making sure marketing basics are covered for all clients
There’s no reason to introduce complexity if you haven’t taken care of the basics.
I believe there is a simple set of strategies that, if done consistently, will help your clients get a ton of results from digital marketing and help you grow your bottom line.
