What it’s like having a home birth
I didn’t share this with very many people leading up to our third child’s birth (in fact, I almost didn’t even tell my own parents…)
This birth was VERY different this time for my wife and I, and that’s why I was reluctant to share this:
We had a home birth.
It feels good to say that here, because for 10 months, it’s not something we talked about outside our home.
Nothing to worry about
There are a few things that clicked for me that helped me get more comfortable with the idea of going through with a home birth:
- Women’s bodies have been doing this for a LONG time, and are in fact designed to give birth.
- There are many documented cases of women in a coma successfully delivering without medical intervention.
That second one really got me thinking. In fact, a book I read went into detail about why this is even possible.
The main point was this: In the absence of FEAR, ANXIETY and STRESS, a woman’s body will be more supportive to the birthing process.
Obviously the level of fear, anxiety and stress a woman has while in a coma is likely zero.
There are so many things about the way we deliver children into this world that induces these negative feelings in parents. Think about it: how would you classify the emotion associated with most birthing stories you hear? There are some scary and uncertain moments, that somehow end in a beautiful bundle of joy.
How this relates to business
If it is TRUE that fear, anxiety and stress can inhibit this natural process, could it be true the fear, anxiety or stress that you carry into your business or presenting a proposal could slow down or reduce the chances of a successful sale?
I think we can all agree that if you’re not sure about yourself or your offer in front of a prospective client, that could cause you to….
… not ask for the sale confidently
… reduce what you would otherwise want to charge
… be interpreted as you not being professional
There is a direct relationship between your ability to reduce your own fear, anxiety and stress and your ability to close more deals for more money.
To really grow your business, you must eliminate any fear, anxiety or stress that’s holding you and your team back.
We help our team (especially our sales team) reduce these negative thoughts by providing them with a proposal that builds confidence in THEM as they present it. Most people think that a proposal’s ONLY job is to give the client a good feeling. If your presentation isn’t also helping you believe even more in your own business, then you’re missing out on sales.
