How do you fix a client that is hard to work with?
The key to fixing this is understanding why they became a difficult client in the first place…
I’ve found that clients that act this way are doing so because they feel like they are not being guided or there is a lack of leadership in your project together.
Think of it this way…
Imagine you were riding down the road in a bus and you noticed that the driver was missing.
What would you do?
You’d probably run your butt to the front of the bus, grab the wheel and pull the bus over to safety, right?
Well, when your client is being difficult, consider that they might feel that you’re not driving their project, and them being difficult is just them trying to take control of the situation.
It’s never too late to have a conversation about the process with your client.
If you’re struggling to get aligned with a client, consider how you’re leading them and make sure they feel supported by a defined process that gets them where they want to go.
