The Benefits of Having a Leveraged Service Partner

Let’s take a lesson from one of the biggest companies in the world…

Apple’s iPhone is an amazing device.  Did you know that Apple only produces a small fraction of the components that actually go into building it?

Many of the components are purchased from third parties.  They even buy the OLED display from one of their largest competitors, Samsung.  Crazy right?

With more than $204 billion dollars in cash, don’t you think Apple could come up with a way to create all of their components on their own?  You bet they could… but they don’t!

Why?

Well, Apple realizes it’s faster, more efficient, and probably cheaper than trying to do it on their own. It’s easy to see why Apple has made this choice.

So, then why are you choosing to do all the work yourself in your agency?

It seems to me the web and digital marketing agency space is rife with companies who insist on doing all the work themselves.

Can these agencies really be experts in everything they claim to offer?

Take a look at just about any digital agency website and you’ll see the list of services:

… websites

… facebook ads

… lead generation

… ppc

… email marketing

… review management

The list goes on and on.

At the pace that strategy and technology changes, do you think it’s really true that these agencies are experts at all these things?  Or are they just fooling themselves?

Here’s my bet…

Either these agencies don’t actually sell very much of the services they claim to offer on their list OR they offer mediocre services to their clients by trying to be an expert at all of these things.

No matter what the truth is, the solution for agencies like these is easy.  Find strategic partnerships with people who are already experts in these services and hire them to fulfill the work.

This is what we call a “leveraged service partner.”

Here’s how it works…

Let’s say,  you have a client who needs to run Facebook ads.  Sure you could figure it out (and heck, maybe you’ve even run a few campaigns in the past, right?)  But, instead, find someone who lives and breathes Facebook ads and contract with them to handle all of the administrative and day to day work.

You can still be the “face” to the client.

This model allows you to have the skills which will actually get your clients results without having to do it yourself or hiring someone on your team to do it.  You only have to pay this leveraged service partner when you’re getting paid.

If you want to provide great services to your clients while also being able to scale, you can’t do all the work yourself.  I’m sorry to tell you, but you ain’t that good!  Nobody is.

Imagine if a realtor had to build every house they sold.

Imagine if every Subway sandwich shop had to manage a farm.

Imagine if Best Buy had to build all of the electronics they sold.

When you start to look around, most businesses on the planet don’t create 100% of what they sell to their clients.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking that a digital agency is any different.
